Salary: £32,013 - £42,205 per annum

An opportunity for a 12 month fixed term post has arisen within the laboratory management team of the Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (H&I) laboratory based in the Scottish National Blood Transfusion department in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. This busy H&I laboratory is a well equipped, MHRA, UKAS and EFI accredited lab providing support for the East of Scotland solid organ transplantation programme and specialist transfusion testing. Applications are invited from Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Healthcare Scientists to help in delivering the technical and managerial aspects of the H&I service, under the management of the Clinical Laboratory Manager and clinical direction of Consultant Clinical Scientists. Possession of a relevant MSc, British Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Diploma or equivalent is desirable. A minimum of five years experience in H&I is also essential for this role. You will possess an in depth knowledge of a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in H&I. You will work with the Laboratory Manager and Consultant Clinical Scientists to provide advice to clinicians and other healthcare staff as to appropriateness of tests and time scales. 

Evidence of continuing professional development, for example, a specialist portfolio of development, attendance at specialist courses, training on new instrumentation and learning through reflective practice are desirable. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check.
