About the Role
Your Sanctuary is a Surrey based charity which provides specialist assistance to women, men and children affected by domestic abuse. Helping to undo the harm caused to children who have been affected by domestic abuse is a priority for us. We are looking for two talented and dedicated individuals who can provide practical and emotional support to children and young people to help them to make sense of their experience, come to terms with their situation, develop resilience and grow in both self-esteem and confidence.
You will have responsibility for assessing needs, building relationships with children and their non-abusive parent, acting as an advocate and working in partnership with schools and external agencies.
This is a varied and interesting role where experience of working with children on a one-to-one and group basis is essential together with experience of providing relational therapeutic support via play, key working, mentoring etc. An understanding of attachment-based practice, neuro science, protective behaviour strategies, safeguarding and working within an ethical framework is desirable.
You will need to be a well organised, flexible and highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills; able to work on your own initiative and in a joint working environment. In return, we can offer you the opportunity to develop your skills and experience whilst being part of a friendly and supportive team. There is flexibility on the hours worked and we offer a contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday (pro rata) and an employee assistance programme.
Applicants must have a full driving licence with access to a reliable car and be able to undertake occasional emergency on-call duties as part of a rota for which there is additional shift pay (rota shared between all front line staff).
A full job description/person specification is provided along with a covering letter which provides details of how to apply.
Please note that this vacancy is not part of Surrey County Council, we are advertising this on behalf of a partnership organisation.
