A significant number of placing requests are received each session. Year groups are capped at 220, and the school roll is 1246 for session 2016/17.

The school was the subject of a HMIE inspection in 2007, and local authority follow-through visits in March 2009 and May 2010. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) comprises the Rector, four Deputes and a Business Manager.

The current teaching staff complement for session 2016/17 is 86.89 FTE with 21.21 FTE staff other than teachers.

The school was refurbished in 2004, and enjoys a high standard of accommodation. The facilities are used extensively outside normal school hours, and the school has recently been designated a Community Sports Hub. ICT facilities are very good, and have recently been upgraded.
