The Community Nursing service operates an open access policy that is available 365-days a year. You will be a NMC registered Nurse with a specialist qualification in Community Nursing in the Home. You will be responsible and accountable for the ongoing management of the District Nursing caseload to ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. As part of the managerial responsibility you will be familiar with and ensure implementation of local, regional and national policies, procedures and guidelines pertinent to all staff within their area of responsibility in the pursuit of the highest standard of patient care. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the district nursing team and will ensure that the delegation of work to the team takes account of the role, skills and competence of staff and is appropriate to their scope of practice. You will be responsible for the operational management of a District Nursing Team. Prepare and/or validate the duty rotas, manage the annual leave, sickness/absence and study-leave for team members, organise and support the team to attend staff meetings and clinical and mandatory training. This should be done in collaboration with other relevant colleagues. You will be responsible for ensuring that they and their team practice within the Legal & Ethical framework as established by Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and National Legislation to ensure the patients' interests and wellbeing are met.
It is essential you are a NMC Registered Nurse with a post registration qualification in District Nursing/ Community Nursing in the Home and relevant post registration experience. Previous experience in a primary care/community setting is also essential as well as a current Driving Licence. This post is for 37.5 hours per week over 7 days.
