Employer: Simpsons Malt Ltd

Location: Diss, Norfolk, UK

Salary: Salary negotiable

Simpsons Malt are the UK’s leading, independent malting Company, with 150+ years of successful supply to brewers and distillers with a customer range from the smallest craft & micro brewers to multi-nationals in the UK and around the world.

Our Tweed Valley Maltings site, at Berwick upon Tweed in the Borders and our Tivetshall Maltings site, near Diss in Norfolk continue to receive significant investment. Their USP is in the production of quality malt products for the whisky distilling and brewing industries.

These are challenging production sites, with 7X24 batch processing and a wide range of plant and equipment that includes driers, dressers, elevators & conveyors as well as (state of the art) PLC controlled germinating, steeping and roasting vessels. The two site based teams of Technicians seek to ensure that all three activities of breakdown recovery, PM delivery and process improvement get appropriate focus.

This Monday to Friday dayshift based role will support the teams at both sites, but may be based in either and will work in and maintain a 5S Stores environment. The main responsibilities are:

- Monitor, establish and maintain suitable stock levels of consumable material and equipment, spare parts and work equipment to avoid delay to maintenance work.

- Inspect and monitor the condition of consumable material, equipment spare parts and work equipment and storage areas to minimise deterioration and to ensure easy access and checking of stock.

- Working with our CMMS and ERP systems, complete routine stocktaking checks to verify the correctness of accounts and to identify obsolete/surplus holdings.

- Deal with suppliers and external contractors to source and supply high quality material and to provide value for money service to the business.

The sites are safety and quality driven and so the way work is done is just as important as producing the numbers to satisfy customer demands.

It is likely that the successful candidate will come from an engineering background, either through apprenticeship of other routes, they are likely to be at NVQ level 3 or above in either a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline and be very comfortable with pc and CMMS use.

Communication skills will be important for the successful candidate along with a continuous improvement mentality-you will be described by colleagues as a problem solver, dedicated, a good team member, focussed and helpful.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary related to their experience and qualification, that also includes a Company Bonus and generous life assurance and pension benefits and holiday increasing with service up to 34 days inclusive of Bank Holidays.
