Main Function

Managing the key transactional accounting functions, ownership of all Balance Sheet reconciliations and reviews and lead statutory reporting and external audit process

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll functions to ensure that transactions are correctly reported and process contain suitable robust financial controls
  • Key support and input to all key finance projects impacting the transactional accounting function, specifically ensuring the successful migration to upgraded SAP software
  • Review of daily cash flow forecasts, review all planned payments and advise Financial Controller on cash position before bank sign off
  • Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including identifying any potential risks and opportunities to the Financial Controller
  • Lead the review and documentation of key business processes within the function, making recommendations for improvements to drive efficiency and improve financial control, particularly in relation to new general ledger functionality
  • Liaise with key business stakeholders and IT to ensure source systems are operating with appropriate financial controls and that key outputs contain the necessary information for accurate recording of the financial transactions
  • Supporting the Financial Controller with the external audit process ensuring all required information is delivered on time and to the highest standard
  • Provide the Financial Controller material for monthly reporting to the Board of Directors to include aged debt profile and supplier payment data
  • Work closely with the Management accounting team to ensure all transactions are correctly coded and recorded within the general ledger
  • Preparation of all annual statutory reporting and related tax and regulatory returns
  • Oversee and maintain Fixed Asset Register and Capital Expenditure records
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and annual employee tax reports
  • Perform Ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Financial Controller and Senior Management

General Management

  • Responsible for the day to day management of 4 direct reports within the transactional finance team, including setting workload requirements and ensuring all deliverables are met on time
  • Supporting team members to resolve routine queries and issues
  • Lead and develop team including recruitment, training and coaching
  • Manage and motivate the team to achieve Departmental and Company objectives

Knowledge and Experience

Previous experience of financial accounting

Previous experience working within an Internal or External Audit function

Previous management experience including; financial and budget management, people and resource management

Education and Qualification

Candidates should be either finalist or qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) accountants
