Reports to: Finance Director. Dotted-line reporting to Managing Director


  • Currently working as a Financial Manager (or very similar role) with a proven track record of success
  • Fully qualified accountant - ACCA or ACA or equivalent
  • Worked in a Tech Company: IT, Information Technology, Telecoms or similar. You must be tech-savvy and have a passion for working in this sector
  • Experience of producing financial and management accounts and high-quality reporting to the management team
  • Team player, with the ability to deal with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong verbal, written, presentational and IT skills
  • The self-confidence and ability to question assumptions and current practices

About the Role

This is a superb opportunity for a qualified Accountant, already operating at Financial Controller level, to develop their career further and progress rapidly towards becoming the Finance Director.You must be prepared to allocate your time accordingly between the client's London and Reading offices.


The main responsibilities of this role currently are:

  • Attendance at weekly management meeting
  • Weekly forecasting of revenue by practice area
  • Development of reporting for managed services practice area
  • Management of some areas of software cost, e.g. Azure
  • Checking rebates
  • Standardisation of reporting across the business
  • Review of profitability of new customer agreements
  • Maintenance of CW to ensure correct reporting of revenue and CoS (Cost of Sale)
  • Monitoring and reporting of Practice results/KPIs to practice managers and variance analysis thereof to budget and forecast
  • Annual development of commission plan
  • Monthly assessment of WIP
  • Ad hoc reporting to UK MD
  • Flash reporting every 2 weeks for the 6 practice areas - stating clearly what practice areas are achieving versus budget

Skills and Experience Required

The successful candidate will:

  • Already be operating successfully and confidently at Finance Manager level, with a proven track record
  • Be a fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, or equivalent), with at least 10 year's PQE
  • Ideally have experience of working in an IT or technology-related services company
  • Experience of improving reporting standards and embrace ownership of doing so
  • You are great at "getting into the detail" and presenting it in a succinct manner which is easily understandable to non-finance people
  • Have the flexibility and personal resilience to do what it takes to "get the job done"
  • Self-starter, you have enthusiasm for your role and the energy required to work in a demanding environment
  • You have previous experience working in an environment undergoing change and upwards transformation and embrace the challenge of taking the business on a change journey and adding value to this
  • Have the personal confidence and ability to question the assumptions and opinions of colleagues, where appropriate
  • Possess solid written, verbal and presentational communication skills - in particular, the ability to produce concise yet impactful reports and presentations is an absolute must
  • Have the ability to constantly look for better/more effective ways of operating, adding value and contributing to the company's ambitious growth plans
  • Have a high level of attention to detail and the ability to produce consistently high quality outputs to tight deadlines
  • Be highly computer literate, with an appreciation and understanding of data privacy standards
