Acorn is owned by SSCP Spring Bidco Limited, which is a holding company in the National Fostering Agency (NFA) Group. Established in 2005, Acorn has built a reputation as a high quality children’s services provider, offering special needs education (SEN), residential and foster care, for children and young adults with complex needs. The group has grown quickly since its creation in 2005 by both organic growth and through a series of acquisitions, and is now one of the largest providers in the country for the provision of care and education.
About the Education and Residential division
The Education and Residential division is currently operating 17 schools, 4 care homes attached to day schools and 20 stand-alone residential homes.
Turnover for the Education and Residential division is in excess of £70m with the largest site achieving revenue in excess of £9m.
The division is run under the leadership of the Managing Director, Anne Bygrave.
There is a wide range of potential growth projects under assessment in order to build further on our successful schools that are reaching operational capacity.
The division has ambitious growth plans and over the next 3 to 4 years intends to roll out a number of sites and target complementary acquisitions.
As a result the division is also in the process of assessing its standard operating model, including key systems to support its growth.
The Finance Manager will provide day to day financial support to the education and residential operational finance function.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the Finance Manager is expected to provide accurate monthly accounts, operational KPIs, commentary, budget and forecast for a number of business units. The role is also expected to provide financial and strategic support to the business in accordance with the Acorn Group requirements.
The Finance Manager is also expected to model and track key initiatives, such as development of new sites or changes in the operating model (for instance impact of rotas and working hours for care staff).
Based in the Bolton Head Office, the Finance Manager will work closely with the rest of the Education and residential finance teams, as well as the Shared Service Centre Finance Team who process all group finance transactions, and various contacts within the schools and the wider Acorn group.
