On behalf of my client based in Gt Cambourne, Cambridgeshire, I am looking to recruit a Finance Manager into the team. Reporting to the Head of Operations, your role will be to take responsibility for the business reporting & planning process that underpins the success of the group.

You will manage the accounting operations including the production of periodic financial reports, the maintenance of all accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets to mitigate any business risk and ensure accurate reporting that complies with current recognised accounting principles.

As Finance Manager, you will manage one Finance Assistant to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all financial data.

The main duties of your role would be as follows:

  • Undertaking strategic analysis and assisting business planning
  • The maximisation of profitability and cash flow, by ensuring income is fully recognised and expenditure is controlled.
  • Responsibility for the operation of the finance department ensuring the integrity of the financial data held within it, including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
  • Efficient management of accounts payable and accounts receivable, including credit control, leading to accurate forecasting and reporting of cash flow
  • Overseeing the smooth operation of the payroll system, maintaining pension records and share scheme deductions
  • Issue timely and accurate financial statements, including monthly management accounts and the annual report
  • Manage performance against budget, reporting on any variances in terms of business performance and cost control.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis in relation to potential investments and contract negotiations
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external accountants to enable production of annual reports and corporation tax computations
  • Carry out general Company Secretarial duties
  • Assist in the production of the annual budget, share valuation & share scheme launch
  • Liaising with managerial staff, Finance Director and other colleagues
  • Management and development of the Finance team members ensuring full engagement and professional development

The idea candidate will be a qualified accountant with a recognised professional body, coming with experience of managing a Finance Team and of contributing to a Senior Management Team. If you have experience in and understanding of the consultancy environment, you’d be at a big advantage!
