We are currently recruiting for an experienced housing benefit officer to come and work for a leading housing association in the Birmingham area.

The Housing benefit role

  • Calculating rents, council tax and business rates
  • Chasing housing benefit with 3 local authorities
  • Collecting and processing payments
  • Recovering arrears of rent or council tax
  • Liaising with colleagues in the housing team to ensure housing benefit is received on time

A good housing benefit officer will demonstrate the following skills

  • excellent communication skills
  • the ability to remain calm and polite with customers who may be angry or upset
  • the ability to understand and clearly explain complex rules
  • excellent customer service skills
  • accuracy and attention to detail
  • clean UK driving license
