Becoming an Insurance and Administration Officer with Capita Local Government:

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will provide Insurance and Administration support. The role will interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and we require candidates with good communication skills and attention to detail.

What you will do:

  • Keep all insurance policies up to date and correct in all aspects for all Councils in scope.
  • Proactively manage the renewal process of all insurance policies with sufficient lead time to ensure all input information and approval processes can be followed.
  • For both new policies and renewals, collect all necessary data and information as requested by the insurance broker from Council officers and other sources to adequately complete all necessary documents. This includes coordinating information requests between Council officers and insurance brokers, and verifying accuracy and consistency of the data provided, to the extent possible (e.g. compare with prior year).
  • Ensure all new policies and renewals are approved by the Council's relevant officers, and present information to them in a clear and concise format.
  • Keep accurate records for all insurance related transactions on an accessible location, both hard copy and electronically. All records should be fully auditable and transparent.
  • Manage any insurance claims (made or received) from the point where a claim is being requested or received by the Council until the moment of closure, including collecting the required data from Council officers, and liaise between Council staff and the insurance brokers to resolve.
  • Maintain an up to date log of all insurance policies and their expiry dates, and of all outstanding insurance claims with the latest status, and give visibility of these to relevant people.
  • Support the Councils with any insurance tenders, which includes collecting and verifying data, comparing policies and assisting Council officers on the action to take.

Your experience will include:

  • Financial background or some experience in Finance processes or insurance.
  • High attention to detail
  • Proactive and results driven.
  • Experience of developing productive, meaningful, trusted and positive senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working on own initiative with limited supervision or direction.
  • Good working knowledge of common office applications (Office, Word mainly).
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, understand and disseminate information in multiple forms and coming from multiple people.
  • Commitment to maintain professional and ethical standards.
