What is a typical day like in the role of an Insurance Sales Adviser?

You will spend your day talking to customers who have been referred to us from a mortgage adviser with whom we have an existing relationship, so no cold calling, and generating insurance sales from the advice you give. Most of the quotes provided are for home or landlord insurance, however there are specialist areas which you will also become familiar with such as accident, sickness and unemployment cover.

As well as servicing our existing adviser relationships, you will spend some account management time nurtuting relationships with our adviser firms to increase the number of referrals from them to our team.

What skills and knowledge do I need to possess?

You do not need prior insurance experience but sales experience would be advantageous, you will be fully trained in the role and given support through professional exams should you wish to progress further. You need to have prior customer facing experience and good communication skills. It is important is to have a positive can-do attitude, be willing to learn quickly and be hands on in your approach.

What would be my key objectives?

The first key objective is ensuring that all referrals are followed up, provided with good advice and an iconic customer journey. A close second is relationship management with advisers and adviser firms, building rapport with them to add value and encourage them into the habit of consistently referring their customers.
