Junior Financial / Business Controller - Exciting High Technology Start Up - West London in West London, London, UK

Employer: Creel & Co

Location: West London, London, UK

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum, inc benefits, OTE

This is an interesting opportunity for an ambitious Financial/Business Controller wishing to take their career to the next level.

We are looking for an energetic, smart individual to join the Finance Team of a high-growth, innovative security solutions provider (alarms/remote monitoring) driven to provide an exceptional level of customer support and care. Working out of brand new London offices (the workforce has grown rapidly to over 300 in the past 3 years), whose mix of start-up energy and innovation is genuinely infectious, your primary goal will be to provide high level analytical support to the business, with a particular focus on support for the Operations and Marketing teams.

Working closely with an experienced Controlling Manager in a relatively immature environment when it comes to systems/analytics, you will be responsible for a number of critical areas: (i) developing, implementing and fine-tuning KPIs to provide support, analysis and insight - this involves developing business analysis tools, and (ii) effectively reporting performance data to management to guide growth. One of the most exciting elements of your journey will be to add strategic value in this area.

Character is all. As the company is naturally fast-paced and creative, you will need to work in a proactive and agile way. You will have excellent analytical, communication and organisation skills, plus aptitude for problem-solving and reporting, plus a desire to influence and interact with high level managers/executives.

Other responsibilities include:

  • CAPEX control and follow up
  • Month-end duties, such as monthly closing, posting journals, accruals in the system, validating invoices, checking P&L data etc
  • Support the Controlling Manager in full monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting, forecasting and budgeting processes

  • One or two years’ proven experience in a Business Control or Financial Analyst position, ideally in a start-up/fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of management reporting and business analysis tools/techniques
  • Understanding of continuous/business improvement methodologies, or a willingness to learn these!
  • Ability to influence and challenge for the good of the business in a tactful and respectful manner
  • Advanced level of Excel is a must (pivot tables, advanced formulations, etc)
  • Rigorous and organised approach to tasks, an analytical mind able to see the bigger picture as well as grapple with data, and adaptability as priorities shift with little notice
