‘Make it your own,’ ‘Shape your role,’ inject some of ‘you.’
Heard it all before, but never seen it materialise? Well now you can.
My client, a Nottingham, family owned, local, success story, has undergone significant growth over the past 30 years to now see it hold its place as the UK’s leader retailer of automotive security technologies. With a portfolio of 5 key brands (and more in the pipeline) it now seeks a Marketing Co-ordinator to take responsibility for all activities, on and offline, brand, comms, and social media.
And there couldn’t be a better time to join, as the business continues to grow, this is a huge opportunity for someone to manage the entire marketing function, raising therefore the business’ profile, but to raise your profile too!
Reporting directly to the Director, who, just happens to be a web developer, you’ll have the backing of the board, making it easy to see that this business has not lost sight of its origins, maintaining its flat structure and reporting line.
In fact, my client has worked hard to retain the ‘family’ feel, injecting energy into the company, bringing fun into the working environment, and indeed, its culture.
A pool table, table tennis and an outside break area are just some of the features that contribute to the fun, working environment, with team building sessions being run every fortnight and regular socials. Oh, and don’t forget the heavily subsidised, on site, canteen, well, it’s more of a restaurant really, run by in house staff, available to cook you breakfast, lunch and dinner, not to mention sell you a chocolate treat when you fancy!
So, for the role itself. A standalone role, therefore a perfect opportunity for someone who may have cut their teeth on an assistant / exec role, now wanting to take full responsibility for marketing activity. Of course you’ll have external support by way of Design Agencies, but in terms of co-ordinating the activity, driving audience figures, managing campaigns and driving new product launches, that is down to you!
You’ll promote brands across a range of mediums, with emphasis on expanding and improving existing material, plan and deliver campaigns, event and tradeshows from concept through to implementation. Here’s just a snapshot of what you’ll be doing.
•Optimise and oversee PPC campaigns for both Google Adwords and Bing Ads
•Manage social media accounts via Hootsuite to enhance customer engagement (including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
•Work with various departments to identify new opportunities and launch new products
•Write and proofread blogs, articles and other content for both online and offline campaigns
•Work with external agencies (negotiation, creative development through to implementation)
•Create and manage email campaigns through Mailchimp
•Prepare, plan and project manage annual tradeshows
•Create, upload images and copy to company websites, paying attention to SEO in order to drive traffic
•Design and create marketing materials such as leaflets and adverts (full Adobe Suite available)
•Oversee and manage the marketing budget
And now, for the ‘Deal Breakers’ – Adobe Photoshop and PPC (working knowledge, application and proven success) are, a must. If you don’t have these, then I’m afraid your application won’t be considered.
Beyond this, at least from a technical perspective, you’ll ideally have
•Understanding of either Indesign or Illustrator
•Basic HTML knowledge
•Familiarity with social media channels
You’ll be highly organised, disciplined, and self-organised. Routine activities will be scheduled against a backdrop of some incredibly creative, fun projects, so you’ll need to be able to multi task, work well with other teams and manage brand budgets.
Your exceptional communication skills will enable you to manage a wide range of marketing channels including radio, print, online and social media.
Above all, you’ll be a creative individual who loves all things Marketing, passionate about engaging with customers and finding new ways to do so.
