A two year fixed term Annualised Hours contract for 1404.20 hours per annum over 38 weeks per year commencing April 2018. Hours will be worked through the months of March – November. £16,533 for 1404.20 hours per annum (inclusive of 14% annual leave) equating to £1,350 approximately per month before deductions. Based at Henley Fort, The Mount

About the Role

Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD) is a provider of high quality, outcome led, outdoor learning experiences.  We are committed to inspiring and engaging young people and adults, improving and enriching personal and social development and raising achievement, success and aspirations in life.

We are looking for individuals who are experienced in delivering high quality outdoor learning experiences in a range of settings. You will be a skilled facilitator, able to adapt your style to work with a variety of different clients from primary school pupils through to youth groups and graduate students. You will be able to link the school curriculum to learning outcomes and understand how outdoor learning can benefit all aspects of education and personal development.

We are looking for individuals who have previous centre experience and hold a minimum of 2 National Governing Body qualifications. A current first aid qualification is essential.

Qualifications should ideally include;

  • BC Paddlesports Leader (UKCC Level 1 Paddlesport considered) or above
  • SPA/CWA/ERCA ropes course instructor
  • Archery GB Instructor Award
  • MIAS level 2/ British Cycling Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Instructor
  • A walking qualification such as Sports Leader Lowland Expedition Leader/MT Lowland Leader/MT Mountain Leader

Henley Fort is a busy outdoor centre offering a wide range of outdoor learning experiences. The site is located on top of the hogs back high above Guildford. Activities include adventure / night walks, archery, canal boating, canoeing, challenge course, climbing, mountain biking, orienteering team tasks, woodland skills and the 1940's World War two home front / evacuee experiences. To complement the activities, Henley Fort offers residential stays in a smart yurt village. SOLD operates an outreach service that is primarily based out of the Fort.
