A post has arisen for a Practitioner Nurse Primary Care. In conjunction with the management team contribute to and deliver a comprehensive Primary Care nursing service in partnership with Mental Health and Addictions as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the prison setting. You will operate as part of an extensive multi-disciplinary team, providing the role of the practitioner nurse is to undertake assessments, provide and evaluate a range of interventions, to meet prisoner healthcare needs and contribute to the wider continuous development of prison healthcare services. You should demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of health issues and treatment options to provide clinical guidance to all staff on matters relating to health and wellbeing. You will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care within a secure environment. This post is primarily based at HMP Barlinnie however can be moved between the three prison sites if needed to meet exigencies of the service. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Adult Nurse with the NMC and have relevant post graduate experience within the relevant clinical setting. The shift pattern for this post is 5 days over 7 with occasional night duty. As holding current full professional registration is an essential requirement for the post, candidates who do not complete the professional registration section of the application form or who do not hold current full registration may not be considered for short listing.
