About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a countywide specialist social work service supporting D/deaf adults living in Surrey. You will be promoting and enabling independence, raising awareness with colleagues who may come into contact with D/deaf people and communicating with Deaf people in their own language, British Sign Language.

You will be required to provide assessment and intervention to respond to the Service User needs in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines, Directorate policies, standards and guidelines. This includes:

  • Assessment of need and eligibility;
  • Planning and delivery of focused intervention to safeguard, promote, and protect positive outcomes whilst working to best practice;
  • Promoting integrated agency approaches for the benefit of adults to ensure that adults continue to live independent lives and maximise their choice and control.

Social Workers must take a person centred approach, which seeks to be inclusive, and promote equality and diversity. Knowledge of working with people who are Deaf/deafened/hard of hearing is essential. Sign language skills are desirable. A Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.

The post will be located in the Deaf Services Team of a Combined Sensory Service, which delivers services on behalf of Surrey County Council.
