About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for a new role within the County's Special Educational Needs and Disability Service.

The SEND Admissions Manager post has been created to manage the placement of children with Education, Health and Care Plans in education settings that will best meet their special educational needs and ensure they are able to reach their full potential. This role will manage a team of three officers, who together will provide a customer focused, efficient and compliant process for the whole county.

The post holder will manage the delivery of the SEND Admissions Process, applying their analytical skills, knowledge of SEND legislation and their management experience to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure these are successfully implemented. They will be responsible for ensuring the admissions process is compliant with statutory legislation and the requirements of the SEND Code of Practice (2014).

There will be periods during which the team has a high volume of work and tight deadlines, therefore it is essential that the post holder is able to prioritise the team’s workload, remaining calm and ensuring accuracy even when under pressure.
The SEND Admissions Manager will be the first point of contact for school admissions for children with an EHCP and will need the ability to work collaboratively and have strong communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, including the SEN Teams, Commissioning and Schools.

The team will be based in our area office in Woking, but will work across all four area teams. The postholder will be expected to travel regularly to attend meetings both within Surrey and occasionally outside Surrey.
